One of the most important functions of the CAODC is enabling industry to achieve a continually improving safety record. CAODC does this both through internal initiatives that are brought forward by the membership (see sidebar links) and through cooperation with the broader upstream community.

CAODC is one of the six upstream petroleum associations that own and support Enform, the petroleum indsutry's training and safety association. The cross-sector cooperation housed through Enform gives industry valuable insight to its safety performance and the ability to effect positive change in this area.
