The CAODC Board of Directors is pleased to announce the CAODC Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Scholarship Program.
The Scholarship applies to the Certificate in Health, Safety and Environment Processes (CHSEP) that is offered by the University of Fredericton. (Course work for this certificate is offered online.)
Eligible applicants will be competing for one $5,000.00 bursary towards tuition and fees.
Who is Eligible?
Any CAODC drilling or service rig member employee who has a minimum of 12 months of on-the-job experience and is currently employed in one of the following:
Those currently enrolled in either the Rig Technician or Service Rig Competency programs may apply for this scholarship; however the bursary applies only to the online CHSEP program offered by the University of Fredericton.
Only employees of full drilling and service rig members are eligible to apply. Employees of subsidiary or affiliated divisions of drilling and service rig companies are not eligible to apply, nor are employees of associate member companies.
How to Apply
The application form and required materials must be returned to the CAODC office by Friday March 30, 2012.
Application submissions will be reviewed by the Manager, Safety and Training Services. A finalized list of potential candidates will be submitted to the CAODC OHS Scholarship Committee for final selection. The successful applicant will be contacted directly.
Applications and all supporting materials must be received at the CAODC office by the established deadline. Late applications will not be accepted. Incomplete applications will not be processed.
About CHSEP
The CHSEP program has two distinct levels (Foundation and Advanced). The Foundation Level includes the following six required courses:
CHSE 0100 - Management and Organizational Behaviour
CHSE 0200 - Accident Causation and Investigation
CHSE 0300 - Risk Assessment
CHSE 0700 - Approaches to Safety Management
CHSE 0900 - Occupational Hygiene and Office Ergonomics
CHSE 1205 - Environmental Management Foundations
After completion of the Foundation Level, applicants continue on to the Advanced Level Courses (CHSE 0400 and CHSE 2000 are required plus four (4) elective of the student’s choice):

CHSE 0500 - Due Diligence and Compliance
CHSE 0600 - Total Quality Management
CHSE 1000 - Workplace Wellness
CHSE 1100 - Program Ownership and Motivation
CHSE 1210 - Environmental Management Applications
CHSE 1300 - CHSEP Independent Study
CHSE 1500 - Emergency Planning
CHSE 2000 – Practicum

Tuition:
Tuition costs to complete the Foundation and Advanced levels: $6,900.00
Recognition and Recommendation:
This online certificate program is recognized by the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP) as meeting the academic requirements for BCRSP qualification.
Recipients of the CAODC Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Scholarship will be subject to the terms and conditions outlined by the University of Fredericton.
